After 2000, China's national economy has grown significantly, its national strength has significantly increased, and its steel production has become a major country in the world.

Around 2008, driven by the Olympic Games, there was a wave of steel structure construction, with strong market demand driving the rapid development of steel structure construction. A large number of steel structure venues, airports, stations, and high-rise buildings were built, among which some steel structure buildings have world-class production and installation technology, such as the Olympic National Stadium and other buildings.

The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology are also studying the determination and planning goals of strategic new industries. Industries with international advanced levels, strong independent innovation capabilities, strong international competitiveness, and the ability to occupy more markets will be included in the plan and given support and support policies. Opportunities are also challenges, and the development of China's steel structure industry during the 12th Five Year Plan period is crucial for its ability to rise to a higher level and scale.
